Mental Wellness Sessions

Amber approaches her mental wellness sessions using a trauma-informed, solution focused, brief therapy model of practice. She integrates elements of mindfulness practices and yoga into sessions for those who are interested. Additionally, Brene, the Brown Dog is often present during sessions. Brene is a two year old miniature golden doodle who, with Amber, has completed specialized training to provide support during sessions.

Mental wellness sessions are offered by appointment. Most major insurance plans are accepted. It is Amber’s belief that the type of insurance you carry should never present a barrier to receiving services. As such, Medicaid (including both Iowa Total Care and Amerigroup) and Medicare are also accepted.

Private and Sliding Fee payments are available.

School Based Services

In partnership with Des Moines Public Schools, Amber provides mental wellness sessions at East High School, weekly. These services can be accessed via the EHS Counseling Team.

Wellness for Athletes

After struggling to find mental health support for her daughter, who is an elite high school athlete, Amber pursued and was recently awarded a Certificate in Sport Social Work from the University of Michigan, School of Social Work. She is a member of the Alliance of Social Workers in Sports (ASWIS).

Amber recognizes the unique needs of athletes (of all ages and skill levels) and is prepared to offer support and assistance.

Consultation or presentations for schools or other organizations is available.

Yoga

Amber believes in the healing power of yoga. She uses elements of yoga during mental wellness sessions and also offers trauma - informed yoga to individuals, couples and small groups by appointment.

Private pay is available and Amber accepts cash, check, credit card and VENMO as forms of payment. Contact Amber for information regarding pricing.

Clinical Supervision

Amber has completed the requisite 6 - hour supervision training to provide supervision to those pursuing their Independent Social Work License. She is registered as an approved supervisor with the State of Iowa. Reach out to inquire about supervision.

***Of note: I do not participate voluntarily in client litigation matters. If I am subpoenaed to appear as a witness involving a client, I will contact you to discuss the process. Charges associated with preparation, travel, and time I spend in court will be charged at a rate of $350.00 per hour including travel time to and from location.
